Gomati is a wonderful, sandy beach at Ayios Nikolaos. It is one of the most peaceful and virgin beaches of the island.

The cave of Philoctetes is situated near the sanctuary of Kaviria and swimming in the blue waters is a wonderful experience.

According to the legend, the Achaeans stopped at Lemnos on their way to Troy and left Philoctetes there who had been bitten by a snake.

The ecclesiastical museum is housed in the Metropolis of Mirina. The exhibition includes priceless work and relics of ecclesiastical tradition and art of the Byzantine and post-Byzantine period.

The Art Gallery was founded in August 2007. It houses the work of great artists from Lemnos, Greece and the Balkans.

The Folklore Museum is housed in a two-storey traditional house in the village of Portiano. It includes exhibits from the everyday life of the inhabitants and more than 300 folk art items like utensils, handicrafts and traditional costumes. It was founded in 1995 by the Association of inhabitants of Portiano in Athens - Piraeus and the surrounding areas.

On July 1, 2006 the thematic museum of the Aegean was inaugurated in Lemnos. The museum presents the maritime tradition of refugees from Asia Minor who dealt with sponge fishing and the processing of sponges. In the exhibition you can see the diving suits and equipment of divers as well as the tools and items they used to collect sponges from the depths of the sea.

The wetlands of Chortarolimni, Aliki (the largest natural salt lake in Greece) and Asprolimni, are considered the most important wetlands Greece and are included in the network Natura 2000. All three of them are an exceptional ecosystem for over 4,000 species of birds like herons, avocets, kingfishers, glossy ibis and flamingos.
